Our Story
Born between salt-stained research notes and silver-dusted workbenches.
The finest things in life are meant to be lived in.
Above & Below was born between salt-stained research notes and silver-dusted workbenches.
Founded by a biologist-turned-silversmith who carved his own path through life's waters, Above & Below reflects its creator's belief that there's a right way to do things—one that honours both craft and conscience, and that’s both wild and intentional.
Above & Below creates fine jewellery inspired by the ocean that surrounds, shapes, and sustains us. Like fresh oysters served on driftwood or vintage champagne in enamel cups, we celebrate the beautiful tension between raw and refined.
Every piece is made to be lived in, designed to accompany you from dawn swims to evening soirées without a second thought. We use sterling silver and gold vermeil, ensuring each creation stays as fresh as the day you first wore it.
But our purpose runs deeper than making beautiful things. The ocean isn't just our muse—it's our mission. A significant portion of every purchase flows directly to marine conservation, like tides returning to shore. This is jewellery that gives back what it takes, created for those who believe building beautiful things should also build a better world.
Our Mission
The ocean gives endlessly—inspiration, wonder, life itself. Our mission is simple: to give back with the same generosity.
We believe meaningful change comes from purposeful choices. By choosing Above & Below, you are directly supporting marine conservation efforts that will protect these precious waters for generations to come.
We craft each piece to last, using superior materials that defy the temporary nature of trends. This commitment to enduring quality mirrors our commitment to the seas; both are investments in a future worth preserving.

The Process

Step 01: Ocean To Idea
Each collection begins on the waves, with rough sketches often captured during conservation voyages—salt-spotted notebooks filled as the boat rises and falls with swells. These initial ideas transform into rough carvings by the water, where the prototypes evolve. We test and refine until each piece feels natural against skin, with every curve and connection considered.

Step 02: Wax To Metal
We use lost wax casting—an ancient technique where designs are first carved in wax, capturing fine details and textures. These wax models are then encased in plaster to create moulds. Skilled silversmiths then pour molten precious metal in, replacing the wax with an exact metal replica.

Step 3: Studio To You
Expert hands polish and refine each piece, bringing out the natural beauty of the metal. Every surface is carefully finished, edges are smoothed, and each piece is tested to ensure it meets our standards for both wear and durability.
